“I became a physician to help people heal. I’m able to do that by working collaboratively, with the care team, the patient and their loved ones.”

As a physician specializing in pulmonology, critical care and sleep medicine, Enrique Machare, M.D., enjoys caring for patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. He manages and treats asthma, COPD, lung fibrosis, and shortness of breath; sleep-related issues; and significant shortness of breath from pneumonia which needs intensive inpatient respiratory support.

“The opportunity to help my patients manage and overcome a variety of acute and chronic health issues is one I enjoy,” Dr. Machare said. “Whether I’m consulting with patients in my clinic or caring for urgent conditions in the hospital setting, I’ve learned my most important job is to carefully explain the patient’s current health status. That way everyone involved can make the most informed health decisions, which leads to the best outcomes.”

While Dr. Machare already brings a diverse skill set to his practice, he is passionate about keeping up to date on each his specialties.

“I’ll always be interested in learning everything there is to know about the new and emerging skills and procedures that can bring better care to my patients,” Dr. Machare said. “But the most basic and important skill I can bring to my patients is carefully listening to their concerns.”

Dr. Machare earned his Doctor of Medicine from the School of Medicine of La Plata in Argentina and completed internal medicine and critical care residencies in Argentina, New Zealand and State University of New York at Buffalo. He also received pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

In his spare time, Dr. Machare enjoys exploring nature, riding bikes, listening to classical music and drawing and painting with his wife and daughter.
