“I strive to get to know my patients on a personal level, to understand their needs, and to provide relationship-based care that exceeds their expectations.”

Charles Hendrix, O.D., is an optometrist who manages and treats patients with refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. He also cares for binocular vision disorders that lead to double vision, removes foreign bodies from the front of the eye and treats acute injuries and infections. Dr. Hendrix has additional interests in managing chronic diseases like glaucoma and dry eyes, and enjoys collaborating with fellow physicians to address eye issues related to diabetes and high blood pressure.

“I am passionate about solving complex visual problems and helping others to feel better,” said Dr. Hendrix. “I enjoy getting to know my patients, their stories, and what is important to them. I am gratified knowing that patients are putting their trust in me to provide them with solutions to their problems. It gives me great satisfaction when I'm able to solve them.”

Dr. Hendrix has been practicing for nearly 30 years, and enjoys optometry because it allows him to combine his interests of science, problem solving and caring for others. He values the collaborative relationship he has with his ophthalmology colleagues, which has strengthened his acute and long-term management of complex eye disorders.

“I feel an important aspect of the patient care relationship is active listening,” said Dr. Hendrix. “I seek to understand their concerns and the issues they face and work to solve their visual problems in a way that helps to improve their quality of life.”

Dr. Hendrix earned his Bachelor of Science at Carroll University and his Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry.

Dr. Hendrix is married with four adult children. He enjoys camping, fishing, boating and spending time with his family. He also likes reading and is a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
