BDCH Cancer Nurse Navigator Program Honored

BDCH Cancer Nurse Navigator Program HonoredThe Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. Cancer Nurse Navigator Program has earned an AONN+ (Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators) Best Practices Award, which recognizes navigators who have implemented novel initiatives to support patients with cancer.
 
Melissa Schuett, RN, Breast Health & Cancer Nurse Navigator, accepted the award on behalf of BDCH during the 5th Annual AONN+ Conference in Orlando, Fla. BDCH was recognized for its best practices regarding Patient Education and for developing a cancer navigation program that ensures patients receive the education, support and guidance they need throughout their treatment process, regardless of their tumor site.
 
“The Cancer Nurse Navigator Program at Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. is committed to providing our patients with high-quality, compassionate care, guiding them through a very difficult time during their lives and allowing them to focus more of their time and energy on recovery,” said Mike Murphy, BDCH Chief Patient Care Officer. “We are proud of the efforts of our Cancer Nurse Navigator Team and are excited they have earned the recognition that is so richly deserved.”
 
The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) is the largest national specialty organization dedicated to improving patient care and quality of life by defining, enhancing, and promoting the role of oncology nurse and patient navigators.
