Biofeedback Services for Pain Management or Relaxation
Used alone or in combination with other treatment methods, biofeedback can be an effective treatment option for:
  • Chronic pain, migraine and tension headaches
  • Spasticity, muscular weakness and imbalance caused by stroke
  • Urinary incontinence and pelvic pain
  • Anxiety and high blood pressure
  • Raynaud’s Disease
  • TMJ
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rectal incontinence
How does Biofeedback Work?
Biofeedback therapy helps you learn to control bodily functions, such as muscle tension, heart rate, respiration rate and hand temperature using your own mind without drugs or pain relievers. It measures a person’s physiological responses through sensors that pick up electrical signals from the muscles. These are translated into visual and auditory feedback to a computer screen.

BDCH Rehabilitation therapists train patients on how to interpret and control that feedback to control bodily responses.
Beaver Dam Community Hospital’s Rehab Services therapists have specialized biofeedback training. They are uniquely qualified to teach pain management and relaxation techniques.

Treatment may also include patient education on dietary triggers, sleep patterns, exercise, behavior strategies and lifestyle choices. Therapists utilize biofeedback in conjunction with standard physical and occupational therapy regimens for those patients with symptoms requiring muscular training.
Discuss Biofeedback Services With Your Physician
Individuals interested in biofeedback therapy should discuss this treatment option with their physician. Most insurances cover this treatment when appropriate.
