Massage Therapy

Massage is recognized for its many health benefits, such as stress relief, pain reduction, and improved circulation and energy. BDCH certified massage therapists offer a variety of techniques in a choice of 30, 60, or 90 minute sessions. Prices are reasonable, and tips are not accepted.

Therapists on the BDCH team have received training and/or certification in skills that cross specialty areas, providing more options for care.

Occupational Therapy (OT)

In addition to helping patients regain the ability to do normal daily activities, such as cooking and self-care, occupational therapists also specialize in ergonomics and give treatment for lymphedema; wounds; and hand, arm and shoulder injuries. Crossbow evaluations are also provided.

Our OTs also specialize in ergonomics and worker compensation rehabilitation and provide treatment for lymphedema, breast cancer rehab and education, wounds, etc.

Biofeedback is also a treatment used by some OTs to treat conditions such as incontinence and pain.

Physical Therapy (PT)

When working with muscle, joint disorders or injuries, movement without pain or restriction and return to optimal function is the goal of physical therapy. Therapists use a variety of manual techniques with patients and prescribe therapeutic exercise programs.

PTs provide treatment for preventing falls, balance or dizziness disorders, and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ) and specialize in sports injury rehabilitation.

Speech Therapy (ST)

Speech-language pathologists work on the ability to communicate, think, remember, and problem-solve. Their training includes treatment of disorders related to swallowing and voice.

The Speech Therapist at BDCH is a trained voice specialist with certification in Lee Silverman Voice Therapy, which is especially beneficial for those with Parkinson's Disease. Our Speech Therapist also conducts videostroboscopy to examine the vocal chords, working along with our ENT specialist.

Biofeedback Clinic for Pain Management or Relaxation

Used alone or in combination with other treatment methods, biofeedback can be an effective treatment option for:

Chronic pain, migraine and tension headaches
Spasticity, muscular weakness and imbalance caused by stroke
Urinary incontinence and pelvic pain

Dr. Fowler Treats Activity-Limiting Conditions

A physiatrist, such as Dr. William Fowler, is a physician who has special training and certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Treating the whole patient, physiatrists deal with all sorts of activity-limiting conditions, such as fibromyalgia, sports injuries, stroke damage, pinched nerves, sciatic nerve pain, walking problems and overuse problems like carpal tunnel syndrome.

Dr. Fowler's main focus is to help patients help themselves, to educate patients about their conditions and how to manage necessary functions of living to stay as active and independent as possible.
