Ways of Giving - Dodge Health Foundation

What is Dodge Health Foundation?
Local leaders formed Dodge Health Foundation (DHF) on May 21, 1984. DHF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to DHF are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Its charitable purpose is to promote charitable gifts for health care. People have made donations to Dodge Health Foundation to support Beaver Dam Community Hospital, Hillside Manor, Hillside Hospice and several other purposes.

Building for the Future Capital Campaign
Donors will have an opportunity to help build the most significant improvement in Dodge County healthcare in over thirty years. Their gifts will become “investments” in an asset that protects people’s health and stabilizes county wide economic growth.

Contributions to the “Building for the Future” will give Beaver Dam Community Hospital the capability and security to continue to provide crucial services.

Many opportunities are available for naming and commemorative gifts. Donors and family members can be remembered or memorialized. This will be done while strengthening local healthcare and recognizing the vital impact of Beaver Dam Community Hospital on lives of area resident.

The goal of the Campaign is to raise at least $2 million in support for this vital project.

21st Century Club
In February 2002, the DHF board started the 21st Century Club - a group who donate $100 or more annually. The suggested annual giving levels are $100, $250, $500, and $1,000. In 2000 there were 36 members of the 21st Century Club compared to the 248 today. Developing a core group of annual donors is important and helps DHF and the donor develop relationships of trust.

Estate Planning
Charitable Gift Annuities are one of the easiest and simplest planned gifts. They have several advantages for people 70 and older:
   • Guaranteed payments for life
   • The opportunity to make a significant gift to promote and protect the health of local people
   • Both a tax deduction and tax-free income. The higher your income tax bracket, and the older you are, the more attractive this feature is. You receive an income tax deduction in the year you make the gift. About 60-80% of the payment amount is not subject to income tax.
   • A greatly increased return on your asset. For example, a person age 75 would receive a guaranteed payment rate of 7.1% for life. This compares very favorably to CD rates of 1-3%.
   • A straightforward, understandable, two-page agreement.

If you fund your CGA with stock or another marketable asset, you can:
   • Convert a highly appreciated asset into guaranteed payments for life. Donors avoid uncertain yields and any risk of stick market corrections.
   • Avoid and delay capital gains tax.

Charitable gift annuities are irrevocable (i.e. not subject to change) after the 2-page, simple agreement is signed. Payment rates are based on the annuitant’s age within six months of their nearest birthday. The primary benefits are having more income for current living expenses, guaranteed payments for life, and the good feeling from helping others with your major charitable gift. The minimum Charitable Gift Annuity amount for Dodge Health Foundation is $10,000.   Download donation form
